The Bridge2AI is the National Science Foundation–funded project, led by the Center for Advancement Research in Education (JMU CARE) that is designed to expand the AI workforce by uncovering untapped talent in rural areas. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, experiential learning, and personalized mentoring, the project provides adult learners opportunities to transition into AI-driven careers. Participants complete a 10-month training and internship program co-designed by JMU faculty and CGI, one of the world’s largest IT and business consulting companies. Each participant receives an Individualized Development Plan (IDP), multi-tiered mentoring support, professional development training, and financial assistance.
